Don't Be Fooled By The Mask I Wear

Image
Don't be fooled by me. Don't be fooled by the face I wear For I wear a mask.  I wear a thousand masks-    masks that I'm afraid to take off;      and none of them are me.       Pretending is an art that's second nature to me    but don't be fooled,   For my sake, don't be  fooled. I give the impression that I am secure, that all is sunny and unruffled    within me as well as without;     that confidence is my name      and coolness my game,     that the water is calm    and I am in command;   and that I need no one.   Prayer is a hunger.  Prayer is self - surrendered in faith.  Prayer is loving attention.  Prayer is awareness.  Prayer is wholeness.  Prayer is a holistic way of living.  Prayer begets liberality.  Prayer is solidarity. Prayer is listening in silence.  Prayer in all the events of life:   in life;   in family;   in education;   in work;   in suffering;   in death. You can count on prayer. Living Moments of Prayer - J.Maurus 1995 "You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance. For what is prayer but the expansion of yourself into the living ether?" Kahlil Gibran

Silence is a work of self-control. Silence beats time. Silence awakens inner energy. Silence makes the journey inwards easier. Silence is the wisdom of the mind, of the heart, of the fantasy and of the imagination. Silence makes conversation real. Silence helps handle conflicts. God is found in silence. Prayer Teach me to listen, Lord, to those nearest me, my family, my friends, my co-workers. Help me to be aware that no matter what words I hear, the message is, “Accept the person that I am. Listen to me.” Teach me to listen, Lord, to those far from me – the whisper of the hopeless, the plea of the forgotten, the cry of the anguished. Teach me to listen, Lord, to myself. Help me to be less afraid, to trust      ...
