Two Travelers

“ Happiness comes from within. To be happy is to know oneself. It’s not in the material things that we own, it’s the love we have and show to the world. ” ~ Angie Karan Once upon a time, two men set out on a journey. Both men had a similar destination, so they decided to accompany each other on the journey. After seven days, it was time for them to go their separate ways. The first traveler said, “My brother, we have been together for a week. Before I leave, I want to tell you that I am a famous thug but it seems you are a greater thug than I am.” The second traveler asked, “How?” The first one responded, “During our seven days together, I learned that you are a very rich man and are on a long journey. Strategy for Being Here

“ Keep your vitality. A life without health is like a river without water. ” ~   Maxime Lagac é I love listening to Les Brown. He has a rare voice of wisdom in our days and an even more infectious laugh. I was listening to him as I wound down my day while crocheting away and just had to stop and reach for my notebook on one of those episodes. So what’s your strategy for being ‘100% fit and able to pursue and accomplish those goals’ kind of here?   In my 20s, I ...

Sumo Wrestling

We happened to be scrolling on the host’s TV and my niece chose a documentary about some Sumo Wrestlers. After having to answer some questions about why such obese men were fighting near naked, she got distracted and left me scrambling to find something less question provoking to watch. However, sumo wrestlers remained on my mind. It is easy to watch them and get disgusted at their hanging tummies, man boobs, or the relatively tiny loin cloth between them and their dignity on the ring. But, do you know the life of a sumo wrestler? They usually start young, joining a community of other aspiring wrestlers. A day in their life begins at 5 am with leg stomping exercises. This teaches them how to maximize their balance and core strength to overcome opponents. Flexibility is also important so stretching exercises are also...
