De-Rail
"Choosing our own aims and seeking to bring them to fruition creates a sense of vitality and motivation in life. The only things that derail our efforts are fear and oppression." ~ Brendon Burchard
I'm on a train as I write this article and I'm thinking about derailment. Not that I want an accident to happen, I'm just appreciating how smooth our journey has been as compared to train journeys back in the day.
As this one stays on track, there is a different derailment that I want to discuss today.
What derails your plans in life?
Your budget? Your reading goals? Your workout plans? Investment plans?
It may not be something very huge. . .a missed alarm causes you to wake up half an hour late. . . there goes today's workout. A chocolate bar strategically placed at the supermarket and poof! You've blown 200 shillings you had not intended to spend.
"Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. " Song of Songs 2:15
They are foxes, they are little and they strike while the vineyard is in bloom.
You need to be observant and you also need to live in the present if you are to catch those foxes. Derailments are sneaky little foxes. They strike while your attention is elsewhere, and your plans are cruising.
That is why you need to have a plan B and a plan C if your intention is to harvest a ripe vineyard at the end of the season.
Do I love chocolate? Budget for a bar every other month or have milestones you celebrate with a chocolate treat. Do you do fast paced, high intensity workouts in the morning? Have a low impact, easy workout saved in case you miss your workout in the morning. You can do one in the evening and still tick off a workout done that day.
On and on you can seal the loopholes that your important goals fall through and ensure that your trains do not derail enroute to their destination.
Who are your foxes? They're not always anonymous, FYI. Keep an eye out for those things that derail you and stop them before they stop you.
"Your life is a lot bigger than this moment. You need to remember that you can't let the trials you face right now derail your course forever." ~ Bree Despain
Great writing right there
