Thanksgiving Day
“Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” ~ Dr. Seuss
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, a holiday celebrated in several western countries. In the USA, it is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November annually, hence this year it fell on the 24th.
Today though is my birthday. Over 4 decades ago, on a Friday, just like today, I came in ready to start the weekend! (Any surprise the blog lands on Friday? Now you know why haha!)
I found a poem that sums up my feelings about this birthday:
My age – have I reached the middle?
I haven’t even started playing the fiddle.
So many things I want to do
I guess I had better put them in a queue.
Or is it that the end is near?
Should I look forward with some fear?
Some think middle age is the end
But not me, I have more life to spend.
So moving forward, age and all
I will live my life having a ball
I’ll love those around me
And be thankful and happy. ~ Poem by Catherine Pulsifer
Tomorrow I head out to tackle a hike I have kept pending, until now. Later
today I finally bake my first red velvet cake. As the poem says, I have indeed
put out a list of the many things I am yet to do and as early as today, I’ll
start ticking it off. Why? Because tomorrow is never promised. Today is all I
have. To have seen as many todays as I have is a reason to be very grateful. It
is also a reason to not live casually and keep wasting precious moments because
you never know when the sand in the glass will run out.
I have so much to be grateful for, and that is more than most people can claim. As I count my blessings and name them one by one, you, my reader are one of them. Thank you for hanging on through 100 posts of Kui’s Musings. Indeed, today’s post is the 100th blog post!!
Cheers to more Fridays together. Cheers to a long life ahead.
“God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.” ~ Voltaire
